Name: Virginia Beach Community Development Corporation (VBCDC)

 

Mission: To assist the City of Virginia Beach to provide quality affordable housing opportunities to low and moderate income people.

 

Description: The Virginia Beach Community Development Corporation is an award-winning 501(c)3 non-profit housing development corporation operating in the City of Virginia Beach. In 1985, the Virginia Beach City Council created the corporation to enhance and expand affordable housing opportunities as well as to assist the City with their neighborhood revitalization strategies.

 

The Virginia Beach Community Development Corporation's Board of Directors is appointed by the Virginia Beach City Council and provides both direction and policy oversight to the organization. The Executive Director and staff carry out the daily operating activities of the organization. Many of our projects are coordinated with the City Department of Housing and Neighborhood Preservation and the Department of Human Services.

 

In order to achieve its mission, we are committed to developing quality affordable rental and homeownership opportunities, providing comprehensive support services to its tenants, and providing comprehensive housing counseling services to families and individuals in need.

 

Properties: The Virginia Beach Community Development Corporation currently owns and manages over 500 units of affordable rental housing located throughout the City of Virginia Beach that serve low-to-moderate income families, individuals, elderly persons, veterans, homeless persons, and persons with disabilities. We provide 24/7 property management and maintenance services to all of its properties.
